My AI stack for WordPress development

Last week I started building my first WordPress theme with AI. One of my biggest takeaways so far is that it takes more than one AI for a project like this.

ChatGPT is my thought partner and guide. I use it to shape my approach and stub out structures, then I take over and do the parts I enjoy.

Google Search’s AI summary is my quick fix for JavaScript, PHP, or CSS challenges. It’s lightweight and cuts through noise, but it has limits. You can’t follow-up. Sometimes reframing the question helps, but not always.

Claude is my go-to for writing and editing. It has a warmth to it. Almost like a human touch that makes copy feel natural.

Cursor is where the magic happens. When I hit bugs I can’t solve, it eventually finds a solution, either through better prompts or on its own. From a UX perspective, its workflow feels amazing, though I’m still getting used to the predictive hints.

My lesson: no single AI can carry a complex project. The trick is knowing which “teammate” to bring in at the right time.
