I recently migrated my website back to WordPress.com. I previously had a custom build where I wrote everything from scratch. Everything.
While building from scratch gives you ultimate control, it does come at the cost of building every single thing. From blog posts, to tagged posts, every aspect of the commenting experience, social previews, the list just goes on. It takes a lot longer to get up and running and it’s easy to miss things.
This time around, I went with a pre-built theme. Very close to plug and play. I got the design customized fairly quickly. Filled the remaining gaps with a couple lines of CSS and boom! I was done. Now I’m here, writing content for my blog instead of still working on my site. It’s kind of nice.
