This last week I picked up a copy of Stop looking for Zebras by Robert Smith. Robert is an accomplished designer with impressive work under his belt. He’s also a former teacher of mine from college. He taught me branding.
Over the years, I’ve bumped into him here and there. I also follow him on LinkedIn. That’s where I learned about his book. He’s been doing a great job promoting it. Every Tuesday, Robert posts a video where he reads a passage from his book. It’s something I have come to enjoy and even look forward to. So much so that I bought the book!
I’m only just getting started with it and am really impressed. The layout and design is top notch. No surprise. He also takes an unconventional approach to his book that works well for me. Short stories, quotes, and illustrations to break it all up.
I’m inspired by his creative, unconventional approach as I was in school. It has me thinking how I can be approaching things differently to stand out more.
